If 2016 was the year of Japanese izakayas and omakase sushi, 2017 is shaping up to be the year of contemporary Indian dining, thanks in big part to newcomers like Aug 5 Rooh and Babu Ji. It’s a popular trend that has finally become a Bay Area reality, after several years where pioneers like Dosa and All Spice were the only Indian restaurant kitchens tweaking classic recipes and emphasizing seasonal ingredients.
